I am a little mouse, let everyone know me / Bonjour, je suis la souris

What?
This interactive and bilingual narrative performance tells a story about getting to know and accepting others in life.
An old Alsatian fairy tale about a mouse served as a starting point for the creators to create a narrative world in which we first want to get to know what is different and foreign before we judge it. A well-known Slovenian children’s song is also woven into the story of the mouse’s discovery of the world, itself, and others.

How?
The story of a mouse who comes into a foreign world where she is not accepted or understood is presented as a playful bilingual performance. In it, the Slovenian language is intertwined with French, and humorous situations, in addition to nonverbal communication, ensure that children and adults easily understand and thus accept the French-speaking mouse. In this way, they enter not only the mouse’s world, but also the world of a foreign language, French, which is presented to them in an accessible and innovative cultural, educational, and pedagogical way.

Who is it for?
The performance is suitable for children aged 4 and up, all the way to 5th grade elementary school, but it also appeals to adult audiences. It aims to raise children’s awareness of diversity in society, while presenting a modern approach to foreign language teaching through the prism of art.

Who?
The performance is an original project created by the artists themselves and produced by the Odprti predali Institute. The institute presents itself in the Slovenian environment as an artistic and cultural-educational institution that interdisciplinarily connects various artistic and pedagogical processes and offers a fresh program with contemporary views on the education and upbringing of children.
